| Tawra's Family $2200 Budget |
Here is our old budget from when we lived in Idaho. It is based on an income of $2200.00 per month after taxes.
A couple of notes about the budget: |
- You will notice there is not a section for clothes. We got enough for Christmas from the grandparents that we didn't buy much but underwear, socks and shoes. Those all came out of the Wal-mart category with the paper goods.
- The rent/commuting expenses listed for Mike accounted for the fact that he worked 100 miles from home. It includes vehicle costs and a modest apartment.
- All eating out is included in the Social/Entertainment category.
- This grocery budget included food only. It was for two adults and two toddlers. We lived in Idaho (near Lewiston) at the time. I have lived in Colorado, Kansas and Texas and I have to say that Idaho was more expensive for food than any of those places! I also had to drive 60 miles to go to the grocery store. Since I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, I was unable to go to several stores to get the best deal at each store. I bought almost everything at one store and stocked up on what was on sale. I could get paper goods cheaper at Wal-mart than the grocery store, so I bought them there.
- Any extra money we had at the end of the month we used for emergencies and/or to pay off debt. (We paid off $20,000 in medical bills and credit cards in 5 years on an averaged income of $22,000 per year.) Click here for more information on how we did it.
